Hulk Hogan is arguably the most charismatic wrestler ever! But definitely NOT THE BEST wrestler in terms of skills and in ring perfomances, actually i think he is overrated, the greatest wrestlers ever are:Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker!Though i admit that Hogan played an important role in professional wrestling mainly in the 80?s!

Hulk Hogan is wrestling. More than 20 years ago he and Mc Mahon built that financial empire which today is known with the name WWE but before Hulkamania ran wild it was simply a famous wrestling federation. With Hogan WWE's incomes increased and around him many other superstars ran up. No doubt that Bret Hart, HBK, Kurt Angle, Jericho or many others have a higher technical skill than the Immortal but Hogan has an incredible charisma and the power to charge up the arenas. Not even his technical level is so low (watch his matches with Macho Man or Bret Hart). The Rock and Stone Cold are charismatic wrestler too but Hogan is special, he has something magic. It would be interesting a match with the Rattlesnake. Yes, Hogan is the best.

I must admit, Hulk Hogan was the best WWE had back in the day. He was a fantastic showman and pandered to the crowd night after night. He was the most loved Superstar who could hold an audience in the palm of his hands. He is an Icon and will never be surpassed in terms of Popularity. BUT, the greatest wrestle EVER. NOPE!
To be the greatest wrestler ever, you have to be fantastic in every aspect, not just the entertainment. Dont get me wrong, Hogan was brilliant at what he did and in his day he was the best. However, things have changed and he can no longer be called the best after weve had the likes of The Rock, Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kurt Angle etc. These superstars are not only great entertainers, but they are unsurpassable in terms of their in-ring skills and ability. Like I said, to be the best you have be the best at every aspect, not just the entertainment side of things. There will never be just one best ever, as there will be more and more great stars stepping up and claiming that title in the coming years. In terms of the present day, Id have to go with Shawn Michaels.

HULK HOGAN GERATEST WRESTLER EVER!?!?!?
Hahahahahahah noooooo way. Possibly one of the greatest entertainers but its terms of wrestling how can you go for Hogan? He was wat was needed for his time, but if he were to start in wwe now he wouldnt last. Cena has more wrestling ability than hogan dn ppl boo cena so hogan would be ripped to shreds.
Now in terms of best wrestler and worker you have to highlight the abilities of KURT ANGLE, CHRIS JERICHO, SHAWN MICHAELS, RIC FLAIR and BRET HART. these were fantastic ring generals and had fantastic displays of wrestling ability, hogan was an entertainer with a handful of moves.

If you look at this from a pure in-ring point of view, I think that it is hard go beyond Bret Hart, Ric Flair or Kurt Angle. What those guys produce in a ring is nearly unbelievable!!
After reading Bret's book however, I had to agree with him on 1 thing: Flair, no matter how great he was (AND he really was!!), could make some weird decisions during a match that sometimes even shifted the match's storytelling process. I've never seen this happen to Bret or Angle.
When you look at inring work I truly feel that Angle is the best wrestler I've ever seen, but Bret was the better storyteller. And because this amazing business is still about the story being told between the bells, I would pick Bret Hart by elimination.
If I take personal feelings into account, there would and will only ever be one wrestler who is THE MAN! And that's Naitch ofcourse :)

I loved watching The Rock, and yes he had the crowd in the palm of his hand, but the question in this blog is "greatest wrestler in the world". So that means what the one who could dekiver in the ring, not on the mic. So in my opinion Bret "Hitman" Hart is the greatest wrestler of all time. He never had to speak to get over, he just wrestled, and could work a good match with everyone. Good examples are SummerSlam 92 against Davey Boy Smith, or King of the Ring 93, where he managed to pull of and carry very good matches with 3 very different opponents.
Bret truly lived up to his saying "the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!"

I have to disagree, although you make excellent points.
Hogan was THE first guy, the first true sports entertainer who brought wrestling into the mainstream. He became bigger than wrestling, we can' deny that.
However, I believe he ruined his legacy and reputation in the same way Ric Flair has done by constantly coming back after 'retirement' and having that one more match. Hogan comes back and beats all the young stars which is quite frankly unbelievable. It partly explains why crowd reaction has lessened with each apperance over the last couple of years.
The greatest wrestler ever? It's a tough question, and depending on what someone is looking for from a wrestler it's entirely subjective. Some will look for someone with unmatched technical skill, while others will look for the ultimate sports entertainer, those people who can work a match in such a way that it will make the fans emotionally invest.
Bret Hart is one of my all-time favourites. He is arguably the greatest technical wrestler of all time, and in the mid-90s he had the ability to make people truly care about him during the match. He told a different story with every match and was one of the best babyfaces ever. As a heel, although some criticise his skills on the stick I always thought they were underrated and understated, always feeling quite real without being over the top.
However, wrestling has always been about 'sports entertainment' and the all-time greats are those who connected with the crowd. I believe there was nobody greater at connecting with the audience than The Rock. There is a reason why so many of the current crop have tried to imitate either his mic skills or some other facet of his character but have failed. The Rock knew how to gauge reaction from every crowd he was in front of, and he used that in the match. Nobody has ever been better at listening to a crowd than Rocky. Imagine if he had completely ignored the fact that 68,000 Canadian fans in Toronto were booing him out of the building at Wrestlemania X-8. It would've been easy to just continue the match as the sympathetic babyface but it just wouldn't have worked. Instead, he infused subtle heel mannerisms into his character because he knew that no matter what he tried the crowd was on Hogan's side. The match was so much better because the crowd wanted to cheer for Hogan so Rock gave them the opportunity to do that by playing the heel.
He may be criticised for having too many catchphrases, but we can't forget that the crowd was into every single one of them and every week we saw and heard the response. He grabbed a microphone and before he even opened his mouth the crowd was on its feet chanting his name, waiting on his ever word. Stone Cold Steve Austin didn't have that power, and nobody else did.
Rock was great as a face and a heel, he was talented enough to help make the feud work no matter what role he was playing. He put over more superstars in his prime than most big stars do. How many people did Hogan put over? How many people has Triple H put over in his career? Rock did the right thing on his way out, and that was putting over the next guys. Booker T, The Hurricane, Goldberg, Eugene, Batista, Randy Orton, Goldust...these are some of the names that became credible after working with The Rock.
He has since become bigger than wrestling, but despite not having wrestled a match in 5 years he is still yearned for like no other. Wrestling still misses him, the hole he left still hasn't been filled and he remains the most imitated wrestler in history. He has never dis-respected the business when asked about it, something the likes of Austin and Hogan can't say. To me, The Rock was the ultimate sports entertainer/wrestler. He had 'IT', and it will never be replicated.

Yes this is correct. Hulk Hogan is the best ever, the best ever at not passing the torch to younger talent.
Don't get me wrong I enjoyed his stuff back in the day but a wrestler has a life-span and he needed to be putting other guys over when he was getting stale(92,93).
The only thing I can say in his favour is that he did try and pass on the torch to Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania 6 and we all knew what happend next.
I think what the Undertaker does is correct in the business, yes hes been around in WWF since 1991 but his title runs are spread out, he has put all the guys over when they are ready, Austin, Rock, Lesnar, Batista, Kurt Angle, HBK etc and he is still populour as hell.
I am a wrestling fan and not a Hogan basher(I own all his DVD's), I enjoy watching the old WWF and new WWE stuff to see how wrestling has evolved over the years.
I'm just glad to have seen Steve Austins ECW promo's on Hulk Hogan, Thats the thoughts of a midcarder that was held back by the old guys not wanting to "lose there spot" who knows how many other possible "Steve Austins" were held back by Hogan.
