A perfect reminder of why the original ecw is remembered so fondly by fans of the hardcore outfit, this dvd has a match to entertain every type of pro wrestling fan out there, tanaka vs awesome is as good a strong style/ hardcore fight your gunna see, for the high flyer and high spot fans out there the three way and mysterio vs psychosis are great and the latter of the two lives up to the standards they set ten years before, guerrero vs benoit what more can i say every time either of these mens names were mentioned you knew there was going to be a classic technical outing and this was no exception, every match is a 5 starer making this ppv dvd a most have and in my opinion is top three ppvs of the last 10 years. 10/10

The Awesome/Tanaka match is my pick for the greatest match of all time. When the entire Hammerstein is chanting "this match rules!" you know you've got a classic. The other picks were Lance Storm vs Chris Jericho, with the first cane shot getting menout of my seat as I winced. The main event, with it's 45 interferences, is a great romp. A great event. 97%
It was good to see ECW back in the format in died in. WWE pulled it off with giving the ECW fans with what they wanted. Brilliant to see "Inventor of ECW" Paul Heyman back where he belongs. The storyline between the invaders of WWE and the ECW was pretty bad. They shouldn't of done that but it was a good brawl at the end where you see the Suplex Machine back!
It is considered one of the greatest wrestling PPV's of all time and is definatley at the top of my list after WrestleMania 17. It had everything. Lucha Libre, Grappling, chain wrestling and of course ECW Extreme wrestling. Having sll of these wrestling Styles mixed into one PPV is truely amazing and is a great way to relive the Legacy of one of the greatest wrestling promotions of all time. Each match will leave you entertained and you will be wanting more and more of the awesome action. My personal favourite match of the night was Mike Awesome's who put on a phenomenal show and had aazing table spots! So folks do not pass up this opporunity to own one of the greatets wrestling PPV'S of all time at an amzing price right here on Silvervision!
Without a doubt, this has to be one of the best, if not the best WWE Pay Per View of the last 5 to 10 years. The event was a masterpiece from start to finish. Amazing isn't it, what can happen when WWE take their vice like grip off of creativity and booking and let a PPV flow freely!! I think it must have been a total shock to WWE to see so much passion and desire from a small arena of fans that was so much louder, crazier, energetic and involved with the PPV that it outshined every big arena PPV that WWE was having at that time!!!
I'm a diehard, hardcore, oldschool ECW fan from way back when it first started. It sent shivers down my spine when the ECW music hit and the fans erupted in E-C-Dub chants as the show began. So many images memories came flooding back into my mind - total flashback overload!!!
For all you fans out there who watch or like the version of ECW on TV today I have one thing to say - ECW One Night Stand 2005 is what real wrestling is all about!! It's as close as any of you will ever get to the true heart, soul, passion, desire, blood, sweat, tears and electricity that was the Original ECW!!! Today's weak, cartoonish imitation is a criminal insult against what ECW stood for and what every true oldschool original ECW fan stood for and believed in!!
I urge all of you to stop watching the joke that is ECW today and instead cherish this PPV and The Rise And Fall Of ECW as a the real idea of what ECW and The Hardcore Revolution truly embodied in the late '90's.

This was amazing, as a fan of the original ecw this was a treat. kudos to vince for keeping this show purely old school ecw & making the only wwe involvement relevent to the product. 7 matches, all in keeping with old ecw style, u can tell instantly the difference (chris jericho looks like 10 times the wrestler u see on raw every week) 5 of the matches are mind blowing, the other 2 are just decent (this show is sumthin else) throw in a legendary promo from paul heyman "hide your wives, its EEEDDGE" classic, a few old school ecw highlight packages & appearances from nearly every ecw alumnis (including stone cold steve austin) in history, this has to be owned weather your an old school ecw fan or you just wanna see what all the hype is about, THIS IS FOR YOU!!!!

Nostalgia is a funny thing. It invariably makes you see things more favourably and it's often hard to take a step back and be objective. Such is the case with ECW One Night Stand; as a standard wrestling PPV, it's good but not great; as a piece of nostalgia, then it's fantastic. Credit to WWE, this is about as authentic an ECW PPV event as you would ever see outside of the original ECW, even going so far to use the same graphics on screen, the same format for the show and even the same security team! It has to be said that the fans in the Hammerstein Ballroom are absolutely rabid and the guys from the RAW and SmackDown! rosters are treated with complete contempt (especially JBL). Having some WWE stars 'invading' ECW ONS seems, on the face of it, a bit lame - almost like WWE had to have some involvement in the show in some way (other than it using some of their wrestlers) - but it works pretty well, as the show-closing brawl will attest. The comments from Paul Heyman and Rob Van Dam, aimed at the WWE heirarchy, are great and are lapped up by the ECW faithful. On a slightly negative note, Mick Foley isn't exactly the best colour commentater that Joey Styles could have been saddled with; he appears woefully underprepared at times.
As for the matches: Lance Storm vs Chris Jericho is really good, if a little short, and shows that Storm hasn't lost a step since retiring; Super Crazy vs Tajiri vs Little Guido is your 'usual' Three Way Dance, highlighted by Crazy's balcony moonsault; Rey Mysterio vs Psicosis is OK but is marred by the fans wanting an authentic 1996 Mysterio vs Psicosis match (complete with masks!), something than neither man is capable of anymore; Sabu vs Rhyno is a decent, albeit short, brawl; Eddie Guerrero vs Chris Benoit is very good but, frankly, a little disappointing considering who's involved; Masato Tanaka vs Mike Awesome is a fantastic recreation of their ECW feud and is my match of the night; and Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman vs the Dudley Boys is a long, main event brawl involving blood, tables, etc. The Sandman gets one of the biggest reactions of the night and it's quite a sight to see his entrance through the crowd. This is followed by an almighty ECW vs WWE battle featuring various appearances from ex-ECW stars and is a great way to close the show. One complaint I have is the blatant hypocrisy of the fans; when Psicosis unmasks before his match, he gets booed (he wrestled with a mask on in ECW); when Rey Mysterio uses a 619, he gets booed (that's a WWE move & the fans want 'proper' ECW stuff); yet when Steve Austin comes out to his 'Stone Cold' entrance music and uses the Stone Cold Stunner, the fans are ecstatic (Austin wasn't 'Stone Cold' in ECW and he never used the Stunner until he was in WWE). That gripe apart, ECW One Night Stand is a great event and well worth seeing, original ECW fan or not.

The best ECW one night stand so far, i was glad to see original ecw talent, like the FBI, Mike Awesome, Massato Tanaka, Benoit and Guerrero, they made the night great. The matches of the night were, Awesome vs Tanaka, this match was extreme from start to fiish, the best match has to go to Guerrero and benoit, such techinal wrestlers, they are missed.
Over all a great ppv and a great DVD i reccomend any wwe or ecw fan to buy it.
This was a reasonable PPV. The first 3 or 4 matches werent that extreme, it was good in one of them when super crazy done a 20ft backflip onto his apponants, then we get a suprise match between rhyno and sabu, at the end of the match rhynp is put of a table and subu jumps of the ropes witha chair onto him. The match with Mike Awsame was brilliant, about 6 tables were broke during the match, with some realy OMG stuff in that match. The main event tag team match was as extreme as it gets, there was cheese gratters, pans, chairs, a table, bins, ladders and a table on fire used in the match, there was alot of blood to. After the match sandman screams for a beer, and out comes stone cold steve austin. Stone cold makes the WWE come to the ring and all of ecw come to the ring, theres a massive fight between them were half of ecw are bleeding. Overall 7/10 because the first thew matches let it down.
The first ECW pay-per-view in over 4 years (though certain ex-Extreme alumni still to this day refuse to acknowledge it as "true ECW") was the result of The Rise + Fall of ECW being the best-selling DVD in WWE's history, coupled with some flattering comments made by Rob Van Dam (injured for this event, though he still made a memorable appearance with a "shoot promo") to Vince McMahon.
Looking back, ONS 05 was perhaps not the best PPV of the year, but it comes pretty damn close for an event that showcased mostly non-WWE workers with no storylines aside from the controversial Raw and SmackDown invasion, which actually turned out to be better than what we all thought. This is in reference to when such "wrestling Gods" as John Bradshaw Layfield, Kurt Angle and a bunch of Raw and SmackDown guys (including Eric Bischoff, who had cigarette smoke blown in his face!) who took their seats in the balcony and took verbal potshots at the ECW Originals. JBL's alternate commentary can be heard on this DVD, though it's pretty self-indulgent and ropey, I much prefer the Styles and Foley commentary.
There wasn't a bad match on the card. Chris Jericho vs. Lance Storm was a decent opener, a 3-Way-Dance (not Triple Threat!) between Little Guido (Nunzio), Tajiri and Super Crazy was very enjoyable, and though the Hammerstein Ballroom faithful didn't appreciate Rey Mysterio and Psicosis` "WWE Cruiserweight"-type offering, it was far from being a poor match.
RVD's shoot, where he finally got to say stuff other than "cool" and "awesome", was interrupted by Rhyno, who was defeated by Van Dam's former tag team partner Sabu. Benoit vs. Guerrero was a little disappointing, and Eddie was visibly peeved at having to lose yet again on pay-per-view (he'd lost twice to Mysterio in `05 already, and was booked to lose to him again at the upcoming Great American Bash); so much so that when the ECW Originals all came out for a beer with Stone Cold Steve Austin at the close of the show, Guerrero, who had only recently turned heel, refused to break character and instead stayed in the back.
Match of the night, from a sheer standpoint of surprise, was Mike Awesome's cracking victory over Masato Tanaka. Awesome was a guy who'd been ostrasized from ECW (Joey Styles made some very derogatory comments about him on the night), ridiculed in WCW, and then told in WWE that "he didn't know how to work". One Night Stand was redemption for Mike, and the New York crowd lapped it up.
Paul Heyman cut a fiery shoot promo criticisingJBL and Edge and thanking ECW fans for their support, and a mental, ultra-hardcore main-event which saw much blood and the odd flaming table between the Dudleyz, in their final WWE PPV appearance to date, against the Sandman and Tommy Dreamer. A fitting end to a wonderful, nostalgic night, although we musn't forget Steve Austin's surprise appearance, where he baited the Raw and SmackDown invaders to come to the ring to get their backsides handed to them. Which they did, although the less said about poor old Blue Meanie, the better!
ECW One Night Stand 2005 earned 325,000 PPV buys, a figure good enough to convince Vince that there was more mileage to be got out of those three simple, yet enigmatic initials. It'd be another year before we saw the second Stamford-produced ECW event, and, of course, a brand new TV show, and things wouldn't quite be the same again. But for one night only, it was like the "good old days" in wrestling again, and ECW and it's superstars reigned supreme. A brilliant event, and well worth a purchase if you haven't already.

One hell of an amazing ppv the rebirth of ECW and in my opinion the last night in the original ECW.
The show from the get go is totally out of controll with shocking returns, partners reunite and lots of tables being broken.
This is my favourite dvd as i love the original ECW and this dvd gives me memories that i will never forget off the infamous wrestling promotion named ECW
so just for one last time everyone join in
