Twist of Fate had a great documentary for both Hardys so I thought that My Life, My Rules would be just for some more money...I was WRONG! the documentary about Jeff's life (ups and downs) was great!

The matches were...(just) good. Many of them being on PPV dvd's...yeah...ok...Summerslam's TLC with Punk SHOULD be on it and his farawell speach.
Matches with Superstars such as Carlito or Benjamin couldn't ofer anything but it was worthwatching...

Jeff Hardy - My Life, My Rules

The DVD 1 includes the nine chapters and seven matches, including Jeff's debut as a jobber at the age of 16 (vs. 1-2-3 Kid). In my opinion all of these matches are good enough to make it on Jeff's first single-DVD. Two wars for the tag team titles (The Triangle Ladder match and the Steel Cage match), one match between Jeff and Matt (with Matt's girl Lita as a special guest ref - talk about tag team torn apart!), a HC match against Mike Awesome (Rest In Piece), great ladder match against RVD and of course a 2-on-2 with the three greatest wrestlers WWF had to offer - Jeff and HBK vs. Christian and Y2J.

From that disc I really can't name one favourite match. Everyone had their pros and...well they didn't really have that many cons. From the chapters I especially loved the part that focused on time right after Jeff had won his first World Championship (Armageddon 2008 - the match is on this collection by the way). A lot of superstars talked about what they thought of Jeff's victory and even if they gave most of those comments under kayfabe, it still made the championship feel even more special, after hearing legends like Hayes praise Jeff's performance. Jeff might not have the wrestling skills of Shawn Michaels or the mic skills of CM Punk, but that was still one of the most memorable championship victories in a last few years. Now that I mentioned CM Punk, I gotta say that I was happily surprised to hear my long time favourite on this collection too! For a long time I thought the WWE would only let fan favourites talk on this DVD about Jeff, but then CM Punk showed up. He talked about how he didn't understand the fans, how everybody was behind him when he cashed in his Money in the Bank on Edge, but now that he cashed it on Hardy he "was suddenly the bad guy". Another thing that I was happily surprised was that Matt got to talk about their Brother vs. Brother-feuds behind the kayfabe. He mentioned for example, that even if the fans were never too excited about those rivalries, he had the best time working with Jeff.

The second disc covers ten matches, with the top being the WWE Championship match against Randy Orton at Royal Rumble 2008. This disc also includes the #1 Contender match at Armageddon '07 against Triple H and the match against Orton on RAW which resulted Jeff's famous Swanton Bomb off the RAW set.

Out of these 10 matches, four are for the Intercontinental Championship and one for the #1 Contendership to the Intercontinental Championship. I think that is a little much, considering that they could had just removed couple of them (it's not like they were that awesome) and replaced them with for example that epic TLC match at WrestleMania X-Seven. One of the IC title matches is a ladder match tho, against Carlito on RAW. Not the best ladder match, but I'd rather see Jeff on a ladder match than a singles match. The rest of the disc are vs. Edge (RAW), vs. Shawn Michaels (RAW) and a tag team title match with Matt against Cade & Murdoch (R.I.P. Cade). Shawn Michaels has never had a not good match, so this is nice to have. Edge-match is Jeff's first after his return in 2006, but the tag team match could be replaced. This disc was a little dissapointing to be honest.

The third one then again is more exciting. Those 10 matches include three World Title matches, an Extreme Rules matches against the Dead Man and Dolph Ziggler, the first ever Stretcher Match on SmackDown! history (vs. Matt Hardy), very refreshing Falls Count Anywhere against Umaga (for the 3rd time - Rest In Piece), couple fine television matches (vs. John Morrison and vs. John Cena) and of course the final match of the collection - the Loser Leaves Town Steel Cage Match for the World Heavyweight Championship against CM Punk.

I was very satisfied with this disc. There are couple of matches that I'd take out, but I can live with them. For example the Night of Champions-match is pretty crappy, especially considering that one of the greatest wrestlers on a roster today, CM Punk, is in it, but giving the aftermath, I understand it being on this collection. If I could add couple of matches, they would be the ladder match against Edge (Extreme Rules 2009), the Extreme Rules match against Matt Hardy (WrestleMania XXV) and one of the matches he had against MVP, because that feud was one of the best mic card-feuds the WWE had seen in a while.

Overall, this covers the most of the highlights in Jeff's singles career and some random matches of his tag team career. As we all know, Jeff does not provide the greatest wrestling matches, but this collection has covered that pretty well by putting on a lot of stipulation matches, where Jeff gets to shine (so I ask again - where is the ladder match against Edge?!?). The chapters tell an intresting story about Jeff's life behind the drug problems, including for example his comments on getting a 60-day ban right before WrestleMania XXIV, right when a lot of people thought this would be Jeff's time.

+ A lot of matches with stipulations
Intresting chapters
Special Features give you a real personal look on Jeff's life

- No hype videos before any matches
- Why Jeff's farewell speach isn't there?
- Few forgottable matches, while some important ones are missing.

It's a good collection, but not the best I've seen.

"my life my rules" is a fitting title for a jeff hardy dvd release. jeff hardy has, over the years suprised and dissapointed us with his professional and personal desicions and seemingly answers to no ones call, this 3 disc set offers little insight into jeffs winding life journey due to a poorly compiled kayfabed documentary, but redeems itself by covering some of hardys best matches, which, as usual for a wwe release carries the set.
examples of his, at times questionable behaviour, are refusing rehabilition which led to his release from the company in 2003 and regressing to drug taking prior to wrestlemania 24 in 2008 where he was scheduled to win MITB and more recently signing with tna wrestling after being given the red carpet treatment in wwe, why jeff would allign himself with such a clueless company which has no idea how to utilise his talents are beyond this reviewer, when he has it made in the wwe. onto the dvd itself, as ive stated the documentary portion is for the most part useless, as all involved are in character,"he proved me wrong" claims cm punk on jeff defeating him for the world title at night of champions 2009, funnier still, matt hardy chimes in with "we had our problems" in regards to thier 2009 rivalry, yeah sure. however the feature does have strength and raises talking points during the non wrestling sections, for example when talking about one of his drug policy violations, he casually states that "i got caught" in a manner that suggest he regretted getting caught not actually violating the policy, the segment showing jeff standing amongst the ashes that were once his house are easily the most real and compelling portion of the interview, but overall its a waste of an hour of your life, skip to the matches were the real strength lies.
disc 1, as with any dvd involving hardys/e&c contains the rivalry which practically made all four men, out of the wide collection of matches to choose from wwe has gone with the typically jaw dropping triangle ladder match from wrestlemania 2000 (also involving the dudleys) which serves up one bone crunching ladder spot after another and a less spectacular but equally engaging cage collision from unforgiven 2000. edge and christian pop up again in the hardy v the late mike awesome match, why? well mike wanted "awesome" wriiten on his tights, feeling this was gimmick infringment against e&cs "era of awesomeness" edge and Christian interviened, the match is self is rather one sided and rather short, though hardy wins the match and the hardcore title, its rather demeaning. hardy and rob van dam followed up on their very entertaning stunt brawl (mostly stunts actually) at "invasion" 2001 with a risky ladder match at summerslam, needless to say these two nut cases deliver plenty of flips, dives and splashes. i think its fair to say that the matt/jeff fued in late 2001 bombed pretty badly, i dont think anyone wanted to see the hardys fight each other and wwe wisely paired them back in january at the royal rumble, but the trace is for some reason included on this set, the brothers showdown at vengeance (in december), is lets say.....below average. disc 1 closes out with a tv tag match, this is more set up material for shawn michaels and chris jericho than match quality, but its okay.
disc 2 opens with a couple of forgettable raw matches included jeffs return match against edge and john morrison, these are dissapointing choices as jeff as had cracking match ups agianst both these men, wwe could have chosen any of the quality scraps that hardy and morrison had including a solid scrap from unforgiven 2006, and fantastic ladder match from raw or a superb cage match from "new years revolution" 2007. the hardys helped the recently deceased lance cade (rip) and partner trevor murdoch to the finest matches of thier career in a fued that unfortunately, was never given the blow off match it deserved after a slow building swerve turn, the two teams had sound matches at "backlash" and "judgment day" 2007 the first of which is included, the second of which earned match of the night honours. the next three matches cover jeffs run in the mid card, tangleing with the likes of carlito and shelton benjamin these matches provide enough entertainment, particularly the ladder match v carlto from the raw 15th anniversary special. we now enter hardys ascent to main event status starting with his supposedly elevating victory over triple h at "armageddon" 2007, though jeff bags the win here, triple h gives hardy nothing during the match and virtually no sells most of his offence, the sly and self seeking (on this night) "game" made sure he was the one who went over, even in defeat, why wwe continue to include this demeaning match on its dvd releases is baffling. Fortunately, the wwe think tank did a super job of raising jeffs profile in his run with randy orton, wwe presented jeff as a real player in his pursuit of ortons wwe title, breathing fresh life into a stale main event scene, im sure you all remember jeffs psychotic swanton from way high up, if not its included here, as a viewer you believed jeff had a chance of walking away with the gold come royal rumble 2008, if only wwe presented its current rising stars in this fashion, people might actually order the ppvs. though jeff was not the overwhelming crowd favourite in madison square garden on the night, the masses were behind him, orton and hardy notch up a quality tussle in which jeff looked competive enough to be unscaved by the loss when orton caught him out of nowhere with the rko. Jeff hardy was once by some, honoured with the title of possibly being the next shawn micheals, its hard to deny the high flying similarities between the two, but for me, hardy lacks the technical skill to be a %u201Cshawn Michaels%u201D, either way the last match on disc 2 could be perceived as a dream match and theses two don%u2019t disappoint. Hardy and Michaels go at it in a stellar tv encounter making this one of the best matches across the 3 discs, its also worth noting that Michaels did the job here, CLEANLY,( this from a man who once sulked at putting over stone cold at wrestlemania 14) thus making jeffs suspension just weeks later even more disappointing.
Like hardys rivalry with john Morrison, wwe had a wealth of matches pitting hardy v umaga(rip) to choose from, the two shared great chemistry which was never more apparent than at the great american bash 2007, where hardy and umaga have a gripping %u201Cdavid vs goliath%u201D style battle, the quality continued on their many tv matches but its the falls count anywhere match (ons 2008) that makes the dvd which is a wild arena brawl (and beyond), while this is very entertaining (watch out for jeff sliding down the stair railing) it doesn%u2019t allow the two to whip up a crowd frenzy with psychology and drama unlike the bash 2007 match which would have been my pick. If hardys headliner status wasn%u2019t confirmed by this point, a competitive match with john cena certainly solidifies it, personally i would have kept this in the bag for a future big time rivalry, (why would wwe give first time matches like this away on free tv) the quality of the match itself depends on your perspective, by john cena standards this is decent, by hardy and the standards set by wrestling fans, forgettable. John Morrison pops up again in a match which is better than the match on disc 2 but isn%u2019t a patch on their ppv or ladder match collisions. Up next is hardys wwe championship match versus triple h, If youve read my %u201Cno mercy 2008%u201D review, you know how highly i rate this match, ill not go into to much detail here, but i personally consider this one of jeffs best matches, containing thrilling action and killer near falls its an absolute must see. On his climb towards the gold, jeff managed to score a rare pinfall victory over the undertaker under extreme rules, ill pause for a second to relate you back to my earlier point about hardys victory over shawn Michaels, jeff must have realized the strong position the wwe was placing him in, going over undertaker as i said is ultra rare, yet still hardy decided throw it away with his drug habbits and joining tna, its just impossible to comprehend this mans decisions, wwe has every right to wash its hands on hardy after all the time and resources it spent on elevating him only to jump ship, never the less this match is okay but far from a highlight of the dvd. Hardy finnaly captured the wwe championship in the next match on this compilation at armageddon 2008 in a three way vs edge and triple h, hardys long road to the championship was rounded of beautifully with this fantastic match and memorable celebration on smackdown. I imagine many people will disagree with wwes match choice covering the hardy v hardy fued in early 2009, most people would probably opt for the extreme rules match from wrestlemania 25, however i concur with wwes decision to omit the mania match in which the hardy duo ignored the often utilised %u201Cless is more%u201D approach to laying out a pro wrestling match, instead they did the opposite and crammed as much into their allotted 13 minutes as possible and in doing so created a pointless and forgettable spot parade. The brothers did however redeem themselves with an exciting %u201Ci quit%u201D match at backlash 2009 and a gripping and stunt filled stretcher match on smackdown, the latter match is included on the set. Rounding of the set is hardy stunning rivalry with cm punk, in which wwe has fortunately included 2 matches, these two men got me back into the wwe product, their fued was easily the best on wwe television all year, there was no chance of missing an episode of smackdown as a viewer i needed the next instalment of this majestic slow building storyline, of course the self righteous punk despised hardy for his well documented substance abuse and the fact that the fans adored him regardless of it, their matches reflected the fantastic storyline surrounding them, starting at %u201Cextreme rules%u201D 2009 where punk cashed in money in the bank just seconds after hardy had captured the crown in a bruising ladder war against edge, though this %u201Cmatch%u201D only lasted a minute, it still nearly caused me a stroke when hardy caught punk with a small package (im a huge punk fan) the two followed it with a good effort at %u201Cthe bash%u201D 2009 where punk got dqed under dodgy circumstances, which brings us onto the next match on the set, this time in the main event slot (deservedly so) hardy scores the win in another quality effort at %u201Cnight of champions%u201D. Wwe unfortunately breezed passes their incredibly dramatic tlc showdown at %u201Csummerslam%u201D bringing us to the final match on the dvd, where both hardy and punk maintain the high standards in a very good %u201Closer leaves wwe%u201D cage match.
Overall %u201Cjeff hardy, my life my rules%u201D is a worthy purchase, if you can forgive a flat and pointless documentary, youll be rewarded with a host of sublime wrestling action, highlights are hardys cutting edge matches against edge and Christian (with brother matt),excellent bouts against randy orton and shawn Michaels from early 2008, his scorcher vs triple h from no mercy 2008, jeffs title winning effort at Armageddon 2008 and the awesome fued against cm punk which is covered by choice matches from night of champions 2009 and hardys farewell cage match from smackdown.

Got this from silvervision just today and I have to say this was a brilliant DVD.The documentary is an absolutely great improvement from the last DVD "twist of fate".Disc one is great for matches because you've got Jeff facing guys like Edge, Mike awesome, Rob Van Dam and many more. Disc two and three are also great because their full of extreme matches and matches for the intercontinental and WWE championship.Another thing I loved about this is that It showed jeff preparing for big matches like his matches at Wrestlemania Summerslam and his epic steel cage match against CM punk on Smackdown. The special features are really good you have jeff talking about his willow the wisp character from Omega,The Hardy show and Jeff ,Shannon Moore and others talking about Gas Chamber Ink.

This DVD was an absolutely great purchase and an absolute must buy for fans of Jeff Hardy.
Because of Its amazing match card and great documentary, special features etc....I,ll give this DVD a 10/10 and that's not overrating It,this DVD is that good.

But then im only updated by little brother and watching PPV's and collecting what i can :P

Loved this DVD set
Lots of good matches but as said by others, so much missing.
The mini documentary thing is ok but it's sort of weird how they keep going to the last match vs cm punk (like flash backs). I guess it fills the time but after a while gets annoying :(
Would have been nice to see a few more memorable matches and the documentary could have been presented better.

I received this DVD yesterday. Ordered it for my son as it is his birthday today and wasn't sure if we were going to get it in time as everywhere else says it's not due for release until 08 Feb. Was over the moon that it arrived the day before and his face lit up when we gave it to him as we had previously told him that it was not due out yet so he would have to wait. He hasn't watched it yet but I'm sure he'll love it and his younger brother can't wait to see it either.
Many thanks for making our son very happy on his birthday.

i am not sure why people think this dvd covers matches from the years 2006-2009,there are matches from the year 2000 on here ,anyway, say what you will about jeff hardy but he was something of an enigma,a man that put the business before his own well being,he was involved in some key feuds over the years and can boast that he played his part in many a classic match.
This three discer is crammed with goodies and a telling documentary that should keep people engrossed, informed and entertained.
