The 2008 WWE Royal Rumble was a very good event among a year of average PPVs, there was not a single poor match on the card and the Rumble match it self was generally very exciting.

Ric Flair Vs. MVP was a sharp and short opener that did well to get the crowd in to the event, this was then followed up by a war between JBL and Chris Jericho which was suprisingly violent. (Violent enough that the DVD has some of the footage edited out).

The two title matches where above average with the first seeing World Champion Edge going against former partner Rey Mysterio in a fast paced match-up that had some nice spots. Look out for a huge Spear near the conclusion of the match.

The WWE Championship match between Champion Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy was another good match with an especially good performance coming from the high-flying Hardy.

The main event of the night, the Royal Rumble match, was generally exciting. The match started with a boom as the first two entrants where HBK and The Undertaker and the quality continued along with some Legendary entrants coming in to shock the MSG crowd.

The highlight of the match was without doubt the final entrant and the conclusion of the match which I would say is up there as one of the better Rumble endings of recent times.

I got this free as part of a silvervision offer and was suprised at how good it was.
The rumble match was exciting had a brilliant ending but did not have many people hitting finishers. Why did Finlay get DQed? 9.5/10
The Hardy Orton match was a mediocre championship match the match for the IC Champ extra was good as was the promo. 8/10
The other world title match had a cracker of an ending and excellent build up. 8.5/10
The JBL Y2J match up was well worked for the time slot and was quite an entertaining bloody encounter. 8/10.
And the retirement match was very predictable a little boring but a nice solid match. 5.5/10
Overall: Good buy get it today excellent range of matches and in my opinion should have a rating of 8/10 good solid in half of the areas great dvd.

What a great pay per view to kick of 2008 every match was really good especially the last 3 and the crowd reaction when john cenas music hit was awesome! the atmosphere when it got down to cena and hhh was great to especially how the crowd was cheering for hhh punches and booing cenas was great,! these two have great chemistry together and should definetly headling more ppv together. i give this pay per views five stars.

Also santio was brilliant the segment was hillarious

A good Rumble compared to some in the past few years but deserves a solid 4 star due to the pointless Ric Flair match, however the rest of the ppv is solid

the royal rumble is very good but the show and match are bad

i tought this ppv was exsiting because of the royal rumble match and jhon cena returing OMG i jumped of my chair when they played his music and then john winning was good aswell.The wwe championship match was good too the way randy orton was goin to get the twist of fate from jeff hary and then in like a second jeff was on the floor and has been RKOed it was fantastic.JBL vs chris jericho was an ok match i think this ppv was good a derserving 4/5
