Fantastic collection of the Golden Days of WWE. Could have done without the late matches. When are you going to put them all out on DVD like you have with the In Your House Series. What a Fantastic Collection that would be!!!!!!!

Without doubt the best wwf/e EVER !!!!! If you love old school this is one you have to own this !!!!!!!
If you're a fan of 80's WWE, then this is the dvd for you. There is a really good selection of matches here and the production is good too. Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan are all over this collection. The real highlights are The British Bulldogs versus The Hart Foundation, Randy Savage versus Jake Roberts, Hulk Hogan versus Andre The Giant, The Rockers versus The Brain Busters and Bret Hart versus Ted Dibease. The two battle royales are great to watch and the Hulk/ Sid Justice versus The Undertaker/ Flair match shows how a storyline should be done.
The 2006 onwards peroid is okay but the 80's stuff is better. This is a good dvd overall with some real hidden gems.
A truely brilliant piece of nostalgia for those of us lucky enough to grow up in the wwe period of hulkamania at it's pomp. Some fabulous match choices here, although my personal fav of that era sadly is not featured(Ravishing Rick Rude). Great to see the old school villians such as "honky Tonk man","Million $ man","Macho Man Randy Savage" and "King Kong Bundy" get some disc time. Not that fussed on the modern wwe fight choices, as the SNME of the new generation were pretty poor shows. With enough material in the vault, it would be nice to see a second volume of the best of SNME.

a great dvd set for a wwe fan, with the matches and the history behind the saturday main event...
Apart from the legendary Big Four PPVs Saturday Night's Main Event for some time was THE Show to watch in the WWE. Now WWE honers this free TV extravaganza with a three disc DVD set.
What makes this set so special, is that most of the included matches have never been released on any WWE DVD before. While you may find some PPV matches on a handful of different sets, you will not have too many of these in your collection yet.
And this set ha a lot of high class matches in store like the foundation of the new WWF at that point from the era of the first Wrestlemanias with legends like Bob Orton, Piper, Hogan, Savage or Andre The Giant to the vivid tag team scene in the late eighties and early nineties and the rise of later superstar like Bret Hart oder Shawn Michaels.
The are however some negative aspects. Most of the backstage vignettes are kind of silly and childish. While the trip to the zoo with Mean Gene and George The Animal is funny, the Halloween party oder the Oktoberfest (by the way: these Americans have a strange idea of Germany) are just plain stupid.
You also have to keep in min, what most of the "Saturday Night" shows have been for and that is to prepare and hype a PPV. Therefore many of the matches have a very chaotic finish with a lot of run ins or disqualifications. That is only natural, because nothing was supposed to be "settled" in these matches. Instead they were designed to build the tension for the PPVs and while some matches are on a high performance level, because of the nature of the show others are a little short.
The handful of matches from the second coming of the SNME are OK, but I guess barely a fan of the golden years would have missed them.
Still, if you art an old school fan, you cannot miss this one. One will hardly find so many unreleased classics in one DVD set
Want to relive all those great early WWF moments like Honky Tonk Man hitting Macho over the head with the guitar and pushing down liz, Hulkamania running at its wildest and some long but not forgotten gems from WWF glory days or you even if your a new fan then get smarten up to your fathers WWF then buy this DVD.
un tres bon dvd je me suis regaler en le regardent

I'm an Hulkamaniac. So I can be really pleased with these discs which remind me of a nice age. But all the three discs are very good. Hogan, Macho Man, Warrior, Ted di Diase, Jake Roberts, HBK and the new generation Cena, Edge and Orton made the history of this Saturday Nighrt's Main Event which has been one of the most valuable shows in WWE.
Another great compilation DVD of apparently the longest running wrestling show that the WWE have produced. Of course, there haven't been as many episodes as Raw or Smackdown, but back in the 80's and early 90's, when there weren't as many PPVs, SNME was one of the biggest wrestling shows on TV. And it was on network TV in the US! That's like having wrestling on the BBC over here!
The DVD has loads of iconic moments. As a previous reviewer mentioned - lots of Hogan. But at a time when Hulk was wrestling, there was always going to be a lot of his matches and backstage interviews. There are plenty of non-Hogan moments though, some classic action with Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Macho Man Randy Savage, and Andre the Giant.
For me, the downside of this DVD is the matches from the reemergence of SNME in recent years. The show was never the same, and didn't have that big game feel because of the oversaturation of the WWE shows. DX beating on the Spirit Squad? No thanks! Give me the Megapowers Vs The Twin Towers any day of the week.

Ok first the negative side:
- If you don't like Hulk Hogan, this is noth the DVD for you. A significant proportion of the matches involve Hogan doing his trademark stuff.
- Because it's the build up to the PPVs there is a larger amount of matches with unsatisfactory endings.
- The modern stuff isn't the greatest advert for more recent wrestling - only one of the three matches is any good.
- The talking parts are ok for nostalgia but don't really add any insight or extra information.
Having said that there are loads of positives.
If you like Hulk Hogan, or can tolerate him, this DVD is for you. There's a couple of really good Hogan matches in here - such as the Mr Perfect & Bob Orton matches, as well as a couple of historically significant matches including those against Andre the Giant, and teaming up with Savage vs the Twin Towers.
Almost all the Intercontinental Title matches are really good matches. Great technical wrestling, lots of drama, a good mix of endings - these are the backbone of the DVD and earn it a couple of stars by themselves.
There's some excellent tag action too. The three falls matches are both strong and the rockers - heart foundation is excellent tag team wrestling at its best. It's criminal that this match has such a duff ending as otherwise it'd be the perfect tag match.
There's a good variety of matches including a couple of unpredictable battle royals, a couple of cage matches, and in the modern stuff a good hardcore match.
There are a couple of non-title matches on there which are also good. Steamboat-Roberts is a good match despite the animal involvement, whilst the Savage-Hitman match is very strong with a sackful of twists and turns.
What really tips the DVD into a must have is the value for money. If it's a good IYH ppv or the like you may get 12 good matches; and on many of the lesser PPV (and probably a few of the main ones), you probably get less quality matches than this. On this tripple DVD you do get an awful lot of quality matches for your money, many of which you probably won't have seen before unless you caught them first time round. Because of this, this is a must have for any tagged classic 80s/90s collector.
This is a great DVD. It has great matches of the greastest superstars within the history of the WWE.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Honky Tonk Man vs. Macho Man Randy Savage
Saturday Nights Main Event October 3, 1987
Mega Power Formation
Saturday Nights Main Event October 3, 1987
That's all that's needed to make this set a must-buy!

Some great bouts here. I can't believe that there are THREE matches featuring Macho Man Randy Savage (The greatest wrestler of ALL time). I thought that Vinnieboy (Vince McMahon) was in bad standing with Randy Savage to the point where he'd prefer not having Savage matches on dvds. I guess this proves that Randy Savage cannot be written out of WWF history.
Hail to thee Randy Savage
Hail to thee Saturday Nights Main Events (original vintage shows, not the the new ones)
I can honestly say that this will be a great dvd. I'd just wish that all Saturday Night Main Events would be released in their entirety.

For me this is a must have! The one that started it all. Back in '85 in Germany we received thatnew cable channel Sky and they introduced me to Wrestling. Watched a few episodes Superstars, and then there was the the TV spot for the upcoming SNME. The one with the Boxing Match Mr. T vs. Orton and where Hulk was hurt by King Kog Bundy. Taped it with my vcr and watched it over and over again. Also the "Real Amercan" Music Video. Couldn't wait for Wrestlemania 2 back then.
So, what i'm trying to say...this one is a set full of memories for me, from a time where we didn't get main event matches every week.

I think this could be a good compilation for us, the fans who follow wwe since the beginning of hulkamania and since the federation's name was wwf. I believe this is a great DVD.
