If I'm going to be honest, I have to admit that the only reason I purchased this box set was because of it's low price (Hey, it is a recession after all :) ). The Rock was never my "favourite wrestler" but I would always watch his matches/promo's because he is entertaining. Having said that, this compilation is a great addition to any wrestling fan's collection becuase it kicks off at the early stages of the Attitude Era in WWE and I was genuinly interested in seeing it. The documentary is insightful but it would have been so much more enjoyable to get interviews from "The Great One" as well as some of his opponents. Oh well, here are my match ratings:

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Rocky Maivia
RAW (13/02/97)
( 4/5: Great match between two up and coming WWE stars. Great work on both parts)

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Owen Hart vs. The Rock
RAW (06/04/98)
(3/5: Good work but I've always found Harts work to be quite bland)

King of the Ring Quarterfinal Match
Triple H vs. The Rock
RAW (22/06/98)
(4/5: Another great showing by both men here. You could see how far both had come since their first encounter)

WWE Championship Match (Final Round)
Mankind vs. The Rock
Survivor Series (15/11/98)
(3.5/5: Not a bad match but not his best work. Still very enjoyable)

Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Championship
Mankind vs. The Rock
St. Valentine%u2019s Day Massacre (14/02/99)
(4/5: Better than their Survivor Series match, mainly because of the match stipulation)

Ladder Match for the WWE Championship
Mankind vs. The Rock
RAW (15/02/99)
(3.5/5)

WWE Championship Match
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock
WrestleMania XV (28/03/99)
(4/5: Great match. Great combatants. Great story)

Steel Cage Match
The Rock vs. Triple H
RAW (05/07/99)
(4.5/5: Fantastic Cage match: Exciting until the very end)

World Tag Team Championship
The Rock / Mankind vs. Undertaker / Big Show
RAW (30/08/99)
(3/5: Average match with very little involvement from Taker)

No Holds Barred Match
The Rock vs. Kane
SmackDown! (30/12/99)
(3.5/5: Nice TV match between Rock and Kane. Would have liked to see the match go a bit longer)

WWE Championship Match
Triple H vs. The Rock
Backlash (30/04/00)
(4.5/5: Yet another exceedingly enjoyable bout. The Rock arguably did his greatest work when against The Game. Both had come a long, long way by this point. McMahon involvement and surprise return all add to the experience)

Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship
The Rock vs. Shane McMahon
RAW (01/05/00)
(3.5/5: Entertaining but hardly a classic)

WWE Championship Match
Kurt Angle vs. The Rock
No Way Out (25/02/01)
(5/5: A superb match against one of the greatest in-ring performers ever. Angle, like HHH, brought out the best in The Rock. Plus this sets up his match at WrestleMania X-7 with Stone Cold. Must-see without a doubt)

WCW Championship Match
Booker T vs. The Rock
SummerSlam (19/08/01)
(4/5: Very good, enjoyable match)

Undisputed WWE Championship Match
Chris Jericho vs. The Rock
Royal Rumble (20/01/02)
(4.5/5: Brilliant match between Rock and Y2J. This was at the height of Jericho's push and Rock does a fantastic job)

The Rock vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan
WrestleMania X8 (17/03/02)
(5/5: Not a wrestling clinic by any means but the emotion of the fans more than make up for it. As great a moment as any in wrestling history. Truely a shocase of Icon vs Legend)

Triple Threat Match for the WWE Undisputed Championship
Kurt Angle vs. Undertaker vs. The Rock
Vengeance (21/07/02)
(5/5: As JR says later in the DVD, "As good a triple threat match as I can remember". Fast action, near falls, the works. All three are in their prime and they deliver BIG TIME)

The Rock vs. Eddie Guerrero
RAW (22/07/02)
(4/5: A very underrated bout that, had it gone longer, could have been a 5 star match. Great stuff)

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock
WrestleMania XIX (30/03/03)
(4.5/5: Another fantastic match to add to the Rock/Austin WrestleMania Trilogy. In being Austin's last match, this has sentimental value as well as some comical moments courtesy of "The Great One". Near fall after near fall, finisher after finisher, this is definately a wrestling fan's match. Brilliant)

Overall, this DVD set far exceeded my expectations and the fact that it is being sold for ?9.99 is a huge plus. There are some fantastic moments and matches on this set (some of which were 4.5 to 5 stars). The extras were very funny and taking everything into consideration (price, content, quality), I would recommend this 3-Disc Set to every wrestling fan.

This is easily the best wwe dvd i've picked up so far this year the matches on it are awesome and there isnt a bad match on the dvd. my personal favorite matches on the dvd are the steel cage match with shane, the one vs Guerrero, Vs Angle and Vs hhh at backlash. I just wish they would have put one Benoit match on the dvd, there matches where nothing short of excellent, wwe and there censoring. Also having the football guy do the in between match commentary as a opposed to the rock doing it hurt it a little too, but minus those two problems i had with the dvd it is awesome.

Brilliant DVD. They chose the most electrifying matches and there is no other DVD set where you enjoy the extras like this. It's really funny to see the segments with J. Coachman and the segment where he makes fun of his Armageddon opponents. And everything is shown in its entirety.
You will never and The Rock means NEVER ever get a DVD like this again!

Great DVD i would give it 4/5 stars
Some good matches spanning from 1997-2002 of the rocks all to short career. Although it would be much better to have some sort of involvement from rock but he is doing very well now. matches imrove as it goes on as does the personality. also the epic face off between astuin and the rock at wrestlemania xv witch is the rocks first truly great main event match. Probalby the best matces on the set inclue the awsome match against HHH at backlash 2000, rematch with austin at backlash 1999 and the classic seies with mick foley/mankind. As well as having stone cold steve austin's last ever match at wresltemania XIX.

no doubt the best of this set is the promos that come in the third disk, the rocks awsome mic work was one of the biggest highlights of the attitude era which include the billy gun god promo on heat, The Big Slow, Thomas Jefferson Sucka, nWo and more as well as an awsome collection of the rocks greatest one liners.

Overall this is a great set but could be made much better with the involvement of the dwayne himself and a few more unreleased matches e.g. vs. mankind royal rumble 1999, chris jericho 2001 no mercy and that would make it the perfect set, but overall 4/5 stars

This dvd boxset is awesome. 5 out of 5. it shows all the best matches of his time in wwe, even the matches he lost are great. i also cannot remember the last time that i watched all the extras on a dvd, you will laugh your ass off when you watch the rock talk to the police men in 'doughnuts'.

some of my favourite matches on this dvd are: the triple threat match-rock vs kurt angle vs undertaker.

rock vs stone cold at all three wrestlemanias.

his matches with mick foley, triple h are the fiercest and there are plenty of jaw dropping moments.

buy now!!!!!

I give this four out of five stars. The actual match content is top notch, his bouts vs Chris Jericho, Mankind, Kurt Angle, HHH and obviously Austin make the set a worthwhile purchase. The added bonus of some classic Rock Promos is nice too. But despite all this there is just something half-assed about it. There is a real feeling that the whole thing was just thrown together on a slow Friday at Titan Towers. The fact that Rocky himself doesnt contribute new interviews is lame and the voice over linking the matches together is boring and off putting. Still though, the matches and promos are worth the money and are shining examples of why the Rock was so popular during his stay in the WWF. Just turn the volume down or fast forward after the bell rings.

The Rock - the wrestler who got me into wrestling almost ten years ago. So this DVD set for me was eight hours of absolute bliss.

The obvious highlight of this set has to be Rock Vs Hogan at Wrestlemania 19, which arguably is the greatest match in Wrestlemania history, maybe of all time. Some of Rock's classic fueds are also included, versus HHH, Mankind and Stone Cold, all five-star matches.

No documentary and no reflective interviews from "The Great One" though, which are a shame, but there is about an hour of great Rocky backstage interviews with Kevin Kelly, Michael Cole and The Coach which just about makes up for it.

FInally...The Rock is unlikely to come back to the WWE....but this set is an absolute joy for the millions...and millions of The Rock's fans, if you smell-ell-ell what this DVD review is cookin!

The Rock was my favourite wrestler of all time. I can and have watched this set multiple times.
It has some great matches the best have to be against Stone Cold at wrestlemania.
The promos are great and brought back some priceless memories.
The only drawbacks are that too much of the footage is censored. Logos, we all know why but it would be far better if it was overlooked as it is from the archives. Some of the swearing is censored which really is frustrating because it takes away the whole effect.
There are a few other matches that I would have liked to have seen on the set and a couple of excellent promos. Overall a perfect package which shows why the Rock is the People's Champ.

This dvd set is awesome, i could think of some other better matches they could have put in rather than a certain few that is contained in this set, but im sure they didnt want to have too many matches on here with The Rock loosing xD, Armageddon 2000 6 man hell in a cell would have been nice. The DVD set is awesome the outter carboard case is a little flimsy but nothing to worry about really, this would have got a 5 star rating from me but the WWF logo was censored out in every sense which is quite annoying and it makes the matches loose a little of its nostalgic feel which i get from alot of the tagged classics for instance, The referee shirts that contain the WWF scratch logo are censored, the entrance big WWF logo is censored and as the DVD progresses to the 2000's to 2002 the editing gets a little heavy but it doesnt take anything away from the greatness of these matches, If you were or still are a Rock fan this DVD set will heavily satisfy you although its a shame Dywayne Johnson didnt come back for the DVD commentary considering WWE/F made him what he is today.... anyhow this DVD is worth the money and is highly enjoyable another great release from silver vision. The panda's can try and take away the WWF but i still think and call it WWF not WWE.

This DVD is excellent showing the history of one of the crowd favourites.
During the Attitude Era, he is a legend and should be in the hall of fame.
My only niggle about this DVD is on Extras there should of had more promo's and in ring entertainment. The one missing is the sing along with Stonecold and the one where Booker T interuptted The Rock when he told Stonecold to come and hug the Rock, those were classic moments.
The DVD is worth every penny.

The Rock is a legend in WWE and this DVD contains some of his best matches. Unfortunately it also contains some really odd choices for a best of DVD collection that seem to be added just to fill space. The matches against Kane, and with Mankind against Undertaker and Big Show are short and inconsequential. The DVD also suffers form no new input from the Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment. On the other hand, his matches against Mankind, Stone Cold and Kurt Angle are essential viewing. The Backlash main event against Triple H was the forst WWF pay per view main event I ever saw and is still as exciting as it was back in the day.

Basically, this is a good review of the Great One's career but it could have been an essential DVD if a few better choices had been made.

As a big fan of The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment, this was a must buy for me and I wasn't disappointed, at least in terms of the matches on these dvds and the brief history of his rivalries and allies over the years.

I agree with other reviewers though that the missing element is a bio and The Rock himself making some kind of comment on his matches and time in the industry, as Mick Foley does on the Hits and Misses DVD.

Having said all that, don't be put off. This is still a great buy and a must for the millions... and millions of The Rock's fans

Dont't take the star rating the wrong way that is based on match quality alone! This is easily the worst wwe bio'dvd thus far, which is a shame due to the Rock's legendary status in the company. There are no interviews at all with The Rock just a voice over and recap of his rivalries, which is relevant, before the matches. There are also no interviews with anyone at all about the Rock which was poor. Surely If the Rock wanted to distance himself this much from wrestling, which he clearly did, then someone else could have spoken on his behalf? The matches save this dvd release. The best set of matches are probably disc 2 which include some the of his best matches with HHH. Although you have to watch disc 1 for the Great One's rivalry with Mankind, which misses their incredibly heated I Quit Brawl at the Royal Rumble. Disc 3 is the weakest of the discs because it's mainly drop-in quality. The extra's are are a lot of promos, some of which are worth visitng. Although you could think the WWE would pick a lot more better one's. This dvd just wasn't as good as expected, but until the Rock commits to a project on his career this will have to make do.

This dvd was good

but one thing i didn't like was the fact there were no interviews with no one it would of been nice to here from other superstars or from the rock himself

the good thing about this dvd was the matches, the little build up at the start of the match and all the promos

if you want to see some of the rocks greatest match then buy it if you want a documentary on the rock's life this is not the dvd for you
