You would be mad not to get this, especially when it is on special offer.

Located right in the middle of the WWF vs Alliance fued, all the matches have extra heat due to the power struggle between the two factions. Both events have a decent number of matches on them, all of which are sold, with some excellent ones in the bargain.

Unforgiven
This has many highlights. Angle vs Stone Cold, in Angle's home town is a great way to end the ppv. It's not the wrestling classic that Summer Slam is, but after 2/3 months of Angle being cheated/abused by Austin it's exactly what was needed, and makes for a very strong finish to the ppv.

I'm not too wild about the Booker & Shane vs Rock match, it's ok, but not a classic. Although the other bigger events of the night really are very good indeed.

Rhyno vs Tajiri (although why Tajiri needed to be injured I don't know, as it was an interesting enough match on paper and challenge for the little guy anyway) is a strong contest whilst the hardcore match between RVD and Jericho is excellent, with some great wrestling followed by some great spots with various weapons. Christian vs Edge is also rather good showing the chemistry between the two isn't restricted to tag matches, and despite the finish not living up to the rest of the match, you feel it has been a good contest.

The undercard is also very stong. The Taker/Kane vs Kronik match is pretty mediocre, but Saturn vs Raven displays some excellent wrestling, whilst the same can be said for the 4 way tag match, which also has some good double and tripple team spots.

Overall, you come away very satisfied from Unforgiven, and if not a total classic, you'd be hard pressed to think of a ppv with higher standards throughout the ppv.

No Mercy

This is made by the main events. There are three utterly top quality, splendid matches that are must see attractions.

The tripple threat match between Austin, RVD and Angle is fantastic. Shocking ending, all three interact well together in tripple moves/spots, all get their moment in the spotlight, and the uncertainty of Vince McMahon's involvement and who he will side with makes for an awsome main event.

Rock vs Jericho. I am not a fan of the Rock at all, and feel often he is lazy and doesn't wrestle near his potential. My word, he does in this one. An awsome match between 2 good guys, both in the WWF faction, an interesting ending, loads of good spots, some great wrestling, and a little bit of interfernance. One of those matches you can watch time and time again.

Edge vs Christian in a ladder match. Not the fastest paced match (perhaps unsuprising given they beat hell out of each other) which is the only thing which stops it being totally brilliant (as it is it's pretty brilliant). A great culmination of their fued, the IC title on the line. The guys are unbelievably inventive with the ladders. Nice dramatic ending. Great match.

The undercard is a little weaker than Unforgiven, and the wrestling is not of the same high standard. However, that's not to say that the wrestling isn't of a decent standard, just that none of it is exceptional. Solid would be the best word to describe it. In particular I liked the Test-Kane match, as there were so many potential finishes, you wondered if the match would ever end. Easily one of the biggest big man vs big man matches that I've seen.

Overall both events leave you very satisfied. The overall standard is high, and the best matches - of which there are a good number - are utterly excellent. Whatever era you like, these are ppvs you will really enjoy. Very highly recommended.

Two of the best shows of 2001 which was easily WWF/WWE's hottest year ever. Unforgiven is a real treat. Jericho vs RVD, Austin vs Angle, Rock vs Booker/Shane and Rhyno vs Tajiri are all stellar matches. In fact Rhyno vs Tajiri almost steals the whole show in the semi main event spot.

No Mercy is really special too. The Rock vs Jericho for the WCW title is a 5 star classic and one of the great PPV title matches of the era. The Three Way dance main event between Austin, Angle and RVD is a blast too.

2001 was the best year of Stone Cold Steve Austin's career, he was on fire as WWF champion and it seemed that everybody else was keeping pace with him. If you weren't watching at the time I'd imagine you'd be jealous of the contemporary wrestling fans of the time as the product far outshines the WWE of today.

This is wrestling with a capital wrestle. Like it or love it, it was the best it ever got.

a good tagged classics set. unforgiven's showdown between stone cold and kurt angle is an emotional ride, with the event being held in pittsburgh just adding to the feverpitch
the stand out match on no mercy is jericho vs rock, proof jericho was able to really stand up there with the likes of the brahma bull. the triple threat main event is also an interesting mix, with the increasingly paranoid rattlesnake at his best
