Being a massive Bret "Hitman" Hart fan, I love this box set. The match between the Hitman and Mr Perfect was a classic in the first ever KOTR.

KOTR 94 was ok, I only really like it because it helps follow the story line between Bret and Owen.

KOTR 93

Q1 Razor Ramon vs Bret Hart. Good start. Audience mocks Razor for the 123 Kid. 4+/5
Q2 Mr Hughes vs Mr Perfect. We gets to see Hughes take Undertakers Urn before the match. Curt Hennig is Perfect, Hughes is not. 3 /5
Q3 Bam Bam Bigelow vs Hacksaw. Don%u2019t like Hacksaw but they are doing a great match. 4/5
Q4 Lex Luger vs Tatanka. Elbowpad on Luger feels weird. Commentators keeps talking about how much time remains. 2/5
S1 Bret Hart vs Mr Perfect. Funny promo about their father%u2019s. Feels like both are saving it for the next match. 3/5
WWE-Championship Hulk Hogan vs Yokozuna. Hulkster can make a boring match interesting. 4/5
8-man Tag Steiners & Smoking Gunns vs Money Inc & Headshrinkers. Too many men. 3/5
Intercontinental Championship-match Shawn Michaels vs Crush. Horrible haircuts. The Doinks destroy the end. 4/5
Final Bam Bam Bigelow vs Bret Hart. It feels slow, but gets better. Chaotic Ending. 4-/5

KOTR 94

Countdown to KOTR 94: We see how all wrestlers advanced. 4/5
Q1 Bam Bam Bigelow vs Razor Ramon. Razor gets to open this year again. Very good match. High speed. 4 /5
Q2 IRS vs Mabel. This was supposed to be the opener. I guess someone smart decided to move it. 2/5
Q3 Tatanka vs Owen Hart. The match is good. The wrestlers doing great, but something is missing. 4-/5
Q4 Double J vs 123 Kid. Great match that feels too quick. I wanna see more. 4/5
WWE Championship-match Bret Hart vs Diesel. Diesel botches a lot here. Otherwise the match is great. 4/5
S1 Razor Ramon vs IRS. Quick match, but not very good. 3-/5
S2 Owen Hart vs 123 Kid. It feels like a cruiserweight-match. Speed. High-flying. But way too quick. 5/5
Tag Team Championship Headshrinkers vs Crush & Yokozuna. I like this one. 600 pound Yokozuna can move. 4/5
Final Razor Ramon vs Owen Hart. Another great match. But the thing after in the ring feels no good. The coronation is OK. 4/5
Jerry Lawler vs Roddy Piper. Piper is always fun and maybe in his best shape ever here. But he has never been much of a wrestler. Not much of a match for a Main Event. 3-/5

And all the way you can hear how Gorilla Monsoon & Macho Man hates to commentate together with NFL Art Donovan.

King of the Ring 1993

In 1993 the WWF finally brought its annual King of the Ring tournament (the first of which was held in 1985) to pay-per-view. The concept was an 8-man single elimination tournament where the winner would be crowned the WWF King of the Ring. The cool thing about the KOTR is that it differed from the regular cards and that each match meant something, the drawback was that most of the matches had to be kept short in order to fit them all in a 3 hour time slot. The Quarter Finals of the 1993 tournament featured one good match between Bret Hart and Razor Ramon, one average match between Tatanka and Lex Luger, and two poor ones as Bam Bam Bigelow fought Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Mr. Perfect battled the awful Mr. Hughes. Fortunately the semi final clash that followed between Bret Hart and Mr. Perfect was a classic, and although not quite on a par with their Summerslam %u201991 match it still took match of the night honours here. Next up Hulk Hogan made his final WWF appearance for what would turn out to be almost nine years as he lost the WWF Championship to Yokozuna is a poor match. Shawn Michaels%u2019 Intercontinental Title defence against Crush wasn%u2019t much better and the 8-man tag team match was pure filler. So it was left to Bret Hart to save the day as he battled Bam Bam Bigelow in a very good tournament final before taking a painful beating at the hands of Jerry Lawler to set up a memorable feud between the two.

King of the Ring 1994

The second King of the Ring pay-per-view took place in Baltimore and was notable for the absence of Vince McMahon on commentary as he was facing a trial on steroid distribution charges at the time. Gorilla Monsoon and Randy Savage took over announce duties and were joined (for some reason) by former NFL star Art Donovan, who was absolutely terrible. Donovan%u2019s commentary aside, this was a fairly decent show. The first round of the tournament saw one very good bout between Owen Hart and Tatanka, two good ones (Razor Ramon vs Bam Bam Bigelow and Jeff Jarrett vs 1-2-3 Kid) and one rotten one between IRS and Mabel. Next up was the excellent WWF Championship match between Bret Hart and Diesel, which was up at least a few matches too early, and it turned out to be one of Kevin Nash%u2019s best matches of his career. Jim Neidhart and Shawn Michaels also played entertaining roles at ringside during the bout. Back to the tournament and Razor Ramon got by IRS in a nothing match while Owen Hart and the 1-2-3 Kid had a very good, although short match-up which set up a Ramon/Hart final. Then the Headshrinkers defended the Tag Team Championship against Yokozuna and Crush in a forgettable encounter before Owen Hart defeated Ramon in a fair bout to win the King of the Ring as Jim Neidhart completed his heel turn. Finally Rowdy Roddy Piper returned for a one-off match-up with Jerry Lawler but unfortunately the verbal exchanges in the weeks leading up to the bout proved to be the most entertaining part of this mini-feud.
