This ppv was a sign of things to come for the wwe this year pretty banal meaningless matches in some areas the only good points of this ppv was the IC title, the DX tag match and the main event.

New Year's Revolution was a professional wrestling PPV event, that was produced every January by the WWE. The event was removed from the WWE schedule when they reduced the number of PPVs per year, with the 2007 edition being the last one. Seven professional wrestling matches were featured on the event's card: The main rivalry heading into New Year's Revolution was between John Cena and Umaga over the WWE Championship. Umaga's undefeated streak make him an unstoppable monster, and that was the worst problem for John Cena to overcome. Could he possiibly derail this succesfull streak ? Another rivalry leading up to the event was between Johnny Nitro and Jeff Hardy. Hardy had challenged Nitro numerous times for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, and had a lot of problems due to repeated interference by Melina. After some back and forth around the IC belt, this was the last match of the series. Also, a very interesting feud between Ric Flair and Kenny Dykstra stemmed from Flair's feud with the Spirit Squad (which Dykstra was a part of) and excalated to this match at N.Y.R. Finally, The rivalry between Rated-RKO (Edge and Randy Orton) and D-Generation X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels) was fought around the Tag Team Titles in this event.
